Contractor and son killed in freak accident

MARANG: A contractor and his eight-year-old son died when their car rammed into the back of an excavator near Kampung Jambu Bongkok here.

Wan Shaari Zakaria, 50, and his son Wan Shakisfri were on their way home to Marang at 5pm on Saturday after a trip to Dungun when the accident occurred at KM62 of the Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan road.

Marang OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Mazlan Yahaya said initial investigations revealed that Wan Shaari had lost control of the vehicle before ramming into the excavator parked by the roadside.

He said the victims were dead by the time the ambulance arrived.
