Works Ministry mulling new way to fund upkeep of state roads

JITRA: The Works Ministry, claiming to have detected misuse, is looking for a new mechanism to channel federal funds for maintenance of state roads.

Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said Saturday Selangor and Kedah were found to have used the funds to lay new roads instead of maintaining existing ones.

He said the state governments should maintain state roads and when they misused the federal funds for the purpose, the people would only blame the federal government.
