Number of accidents down, thanks to safety campaigns

IPOH: Road safety campaigns in Perak have proven to be successful based on the 5.7% drop in accidents recorded since 2009, said state executive councillor Datuk Ramly Zahari.

The number of fatalities also dropped from 36 in 2009 to 27 during Ops Sikap last year.

Ramly, who is state Infra­structure Committee chairman, said: “The number of accidents in Perak has generally showed a decrease of 5.7% or 93 cases, from 1,623 cases in 2009 to 1,530 last year.
