Man killed after train rams into car

KUANTAN: A car ride turned tragic for a couple after their vehicle skidded onto a rail track and was rammed by a train in Bera.

Tee Wei Keong, 22, from Kampung Baru, Sungai Lui in Negri Sembilan, died on the spot in the 1.45am incident while his girlfriend, Tan Peng Pie, 18, suffered serious injuries and was warded at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh.

The couple had been travelling from Kemayan to Temerloh when their car collided with the train at the 43km of Jalan Temerloh-Bahau.

Bera OCPD Deputy Supt Mohamad Zahid Mohamad Noor said Tee’s car was believed to have skidded to the left side of the road and onto the rail track.

“At the same time, a train passed by and rammed into the car. The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added. The train from Singapore was heading towards Kota Baru.
